The wires and cables produced at ASTA for winding purposes, as motors, transformers, generators, etc., are traditional in the domestic and international markets, with a well-recognized quality obtained over decades of investment in technology and know-how..
The company, pioneer of this activity in Brazil, started the production of enameled wires in 1945 in Santo André-SP, as part of the Italian multinational group Pirelli.
In October 2004 the activity was acquired by the Italian group Invex Fili Isolati Special S.p.A. The company was named as PPE Invex Produtos Padronizados e Especiais Ltda. ("PPE").
In 2006, the control of PPE was acquired by its management, as well by Brazilian investors. The company was named as PPE Fios Esmaltados S.A.
In September 2015 the share control of PPE was acquired by ASTA Energy Trasmission Components, a company of Montana Tech Components Group, from Austrian origin with headquarters in Vienna. ASTA is a world leader in for windings products facing the segments of transformers and generators. ASTA has plants also in Austria, China and India.
In Brazil, the ASTA has one industrial units. In Cerquilho , a town located 150 km from São Paulo city, are produced the complete line of winding wires.The unit occupies a land of 121,300 m2, with 35,780 m2 of built area.
